Drink of the Week: Shamrock Sour for Saint Patrick's Day

Lá fhéile Pádraig sona dhaoibh! That means Happy Saint Patrick’s Day to you all! Pass on the green beer today and mix yourself up this Drink of the Week: the Shamrock Sour.

This recipe comes to us from Entertain in Style. Be sure to check out their page and let Courtney show you how to make those awesome shamrock drink stirrers for your Shamrock Sours at Pizzazzerie.

The name Shamrock comes from the Irish word Seamróg, which sounds twice as nice in the native tongue. The Shamrock Sour is a fun take on the traditional Whiskey Sour, for your Saint Patrick’s day parties.

Tonight enjoy some craic agus ceol, that’s Irish for fun and music, with friends and family. From all of us to you, have a blessed Saint Patrick’s Day!

Shamrock Sour

Ingredients You’ll Need:

  • 2 Ounces Irish Whiskey (We Prefer Jameson)
  • 1 Ounce Lime Juice
  • .5 Ounce Lemon Juice
  • 2 Ounces Simple Syrup
  • 1 Drop Green Food Coloring
  • Lime Wedge for Garnish
Glassware and Items You’ll Need:

  • Scotch Glass

Preparation

We serve this drink of the week two ways for you to enjoy!

On the Rocks: Fill glass with ice to desired point. Combine whiskey, lime and lemon juice, and simple syrup in a shaker. Add a drop of green food coloring to mixture. If your food coloring does not have a dropper, you can use a tooth pick or stirrer to stir in the food coloring. Shake well. Strain over ice, and garnish with lime wedge. Sláinte!

Up (This means prepared with ice then strained and served without ice): Combine whiskey, lime and lemon juice, and simple syrup in a shaker with ice. Add in a drop of green food coloring, and shake well. Strain into glass, and garnish with lime wedge. Sláinte is táinte!
