Simple syrup comes in a variety of flavors, and one of those flavors is Ginger. Ginger simple syrup is an herbal simple syrup that can be added to teas and cocktails instead of using ground ginger and sugar.

This Chinese herb has been used as part of medicinal remedies for centuries. Jam packed with antioxidants, ginger is a super spice that contains nutrients that are beneficial to our brains and bodies. You can use ginger in a number of ways – either as a juice, freshly sliced, dried or in a powder.

Ginger’s anti-inflammatory properties have also been shown to aid in digestion and reduce nausea and is used in the treatment of menstrual pain, blood sugar imbalances, and heart disease.


Ginger Simple Syrup

Yields: 1 1/2 cups
Ingredients You’ll Need:

  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1 Cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 10 Inch Piece of Fresh Ginger [Peeled and Cut into Very Thin Rounds]
Items You’ll Need:

  • Medium Saucepan
  • Strainer
  • Container



Ginger Simple Syrup: Bring the water and sugar to a boil in a medium saucepan. Stir to dissolve sugar in the water. Add in the ginger, lower the heat and bring to a simmer. Remove from heat, and let rest for 30 minutes. Strain syrup through a strainer, to remove and discard the ginger, into a air tight container and refrigerate. While refrigerated, the syrup can be used up to one month.
