Named after “Colonel Joe” Rickey, the Gin Rickey has delicious herbal qualities derived from the beautiful marriage of juniper berries and lime juice. Gin is known for its particular aroma that is reminiscent to the smell of Christmas trees.

Do you know what F. Scott Fitzgerald’s favorite cocktail was? I’ll give you three guesses, but the first two don’t count. Fitzgerald even makes reference to the cocktail in his novel, The Great Gatsby. With bathtub gin in ready supply from 1920 to 1933, it’s not surprising that cocktails like the Gin Rickey became pretty popular during the Prohibition era.

Gin Rickey

Ingredients You’ll Need:

  • 1 1/2 Ounces Gin
  • 1/2 Ounce Fresh Lime Juice
  • 2 Ounces Club Soda
  • Lime Wedges For Garnish
Glassware and Items You’ll Need:

  • Highball Glass
  • Scotch Glass



Pour gin and lime juice over ice in a chilled highball glass. Top with club soda, squeeze in some extra lime from wedge, and mix with stir stick. Garnish with lime wedge, and enjoy!
