The Tom and Jerry cocktail is a deliciously whipped alternative to classic Eggnog

Holiday Classic Tom and Jerry Cocktail

Warm up with this Eggnog Alternative

The Tom and Jerry cocktail puts a twist on classic eggnog by using rum and cognac and serving the cocktail warm.

This classic Tom & Jerry Cocktail recipe is a delicious alternative to boring Eggnog

With Christmas right around the corner, I’m sure you’ve seen your local grocery store stocked with Eggnog for weeks now. You either can’t wait to drink more of that thick, creamy concoction, or you’re starting to get tired of it. Well, you if fall into the latter category, keep reading because the Tom and Jerry cocktail might just be the perfect solution for you.

The Tom and Jerry cocktail puts a twist on classic eggnog by using rum and cognac instead of bourbon and by serving the cocktail hot. Additionally, while eggnog is very thick, the Tom and Jerry has a lighter, whipped texture.

Although the Tom and Jerry does require time to prepare, it is well worth the effort. Once you have it all concocted, if you are wanting to be completely authentic, you can serve it in Tom and Jerry mugs (gold trimmed mugs with Tom and Jerry on the front).

Now let’s show you how to make this Tom and Jerry recipe!

Tom and Jerry Cocktail

Yields: 4 Servings

Ingredients You’ll Need:

  • 8 ounces Tom & Jerry Batter
  • 4 Ounces Cognac
  • 4 Ounces Aged Rum
  • 8 Ounces Hot Whole Milk
  • Cinnamon for Garnish
Glassware and Items You’ll Need:

  • Irish Coffee Mugs or Tom and Jerry Mugs (if you have them)
  • Spoon

Tom and Jerry Batter

Ingredients You’ll Need:

    • 3 Eggs
    • 1 Cup Powdered Sugar
    • 1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
    • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 1/8 teaspoon ground clove
    • Nutmeg to garnish
Items You’ll Need:

  • Mixing bowls
  • Wisk
  • Spoon

Preparation

Tom and Jerry Batter: Separate the eggs and then beat the whites until they stiffen and form peaks (a mixer may be used). In a separate bowl, mix together the yolks, sugar, and spices. Fold the egg whites into the yolks. The batter can be made the night before to let the spices meld.

Tom and Jerry Cocktail: To prepare the drink, place 1 tablespoon of batter in a mug. Add 1 ounce each of cognac and rum to the mug (stir to avoid curdling). Finally, add hot milk to fill the mug and stir until frothy. (Milk and water can also be mixed in a 50/50 ratio.) Top with nutmeg. Creates four servings.

Festive Candy Cane Martini

Tis the Season!

This simple candy cane infused cocktail is full of holiday cheer!

Simple and festive Candy Cane Martini recipe

Sweet. Spicy. Tangy. Savory. You just can’t go wrong with tastes of the season! No wonder Andy Williams said, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year!” There’s something about these flavors that make me happy and create very delicious cocktails.

This candy cane martini recipe merges the flavors of homemade candy cane infused vodka, vanilla schnapps, and cranberry juice into a seasonal mixed cocktail you cannot put down.

We are one week closer to Christmas and my house is still full of Christmas candy from Saint Nicholas’ day. That’s December 6th for those who didn’t know. So when life gives you candy canes, make candy cane infused vodka!

Now, if you’ve never made candy cane infused vodka before, don’t worry. It’s very easy to do, and Erin from The Speckled Palate has a wonderfully simple recipe for you to follow if you want to make your own candy cane infused vodka.

How to make candy cane infused vodka via The Speckled Palate

Images in graphic from The Speckled Palate

I made this recipe to have on hand for the holidays, and I have at least three extra mason jars still infusing. You can bet someone’s getting these as a Christmas present wrapped with a bow and recipe card to make this fantastic martini.

Now let’s show you how to make this festive Candy Cane Martini recipe!

Candy Cane Martini

Yields: 1 Serving

Ingredients You’ll Need:

  • 5 Ounces Candy Cane Vodka
  • 2 Ounces Vanilla Schnapps
  • 2 Ounces Cranberry Juice
  • Red Sugar for rims
  • Halved Candy Cane for Garnish

Glassware and Items You’ll Need:

  • Cocktail Glass
  • Cocktail Shaker

Preparation

Sugar Rims: Fill a small plate with red sugar, making sure the sugar on the plate is thick enough to cover the rim of your glass. Run a lemon or lime wedge along the rim of the glass. Dip rim into the sugar to evenly coat. Shake off excess and set aside.

Candy Cane Martini: Add candy cane infused vodka, vanilla schnapps, and cranberry juice to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake until chilled, around 30 seconds or so. Strain evenly into sugar rimmed cocktail glasses. Garnish with half of a candy cane. Enjoy!

Autumn Sangria for the Holidays

Best Autumn Sangria for the Holidays

Nothing beats a little Sangria for the Holidays!

The flavors of Fall come together in this delicious Sangria just in time for the Holidays.

Best Autumn Flavored Sangria for the Holidays

The flavors of Fall make some of the best cocktails, but they make a magical combination in this Autumn sangria. It’s great to serve up at the holidays, or for a quiet dinner with the family or some friends.

There are different ways you can make Sangria. You can do it with either Red or White wine. You can make it fruity or a bit spicy like a Mulled Wine. In this Autumn sangria, the mixture of pear, apple, orange, and pomegranate flavors offer a fragrant bouquet and delicious taste. We also added a bit of cinnamon to give it a little extra something.

As for the wine, I suggest using a Cabernet Sauvignon if you want a dry, milder wine or a Merlot for a nice bite and bolder tasting sangria. Also, don’t break the bank on an expensive bottle of wine for sangria. The wine will absorb the flavors of what you add to it, so go cheap and save yourself some money. Sangria can make simple table wine go a long way.

This is how you make our Autumn Sangria!

Autumn Sangria

Yields: 6 Serving

Ingredients You’ll Need:

  • 1 Bottle Red Wine
  • 2 Ounces Grand Marnier
  • 2 Ounces Pomegranate Liqueur
  • Pomegranate Simple Syrup
  • 1 Pear [Sliced]
  • 1 Apple[Sliced]
  • 1 Orange [Sliced]
  • ½ Cup Pomegranate Seeds
  • 2 Sticks Cinnamon
  • Cinnamon Sticks for Garnish
Pomegranate Simple Syrup:

  • ½ Cup Pomegranate Seeds
  • ½ Cup Water
  • ½ Cup Sugar

Glassware and Items You’ll Need:

  • Stemless Wine Glasses
  • Pitcher
  • Small Sauce Pan
  • Bar Spoon

Preparation

Pomegranate Simple Syrup: In a small saucepan, mix together ½ cup water with sugar and ½ cup of pomegranate seeds. Bring mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat to cool completely. Strain into a container and discard the pomegranate seeds in the bin. Set aside for sangria recipe.

Autumn Sangria: Cut up the pear, apple, and orange into thin slices. Add the fruit slices, remaining pomegranate seeds, cinnamon sticks, Grand Marnier, pomegranate liqueur, and pomegranate simple syrup to a large pitcher. Stir to combine. Top with 1 bottle of red wine. Stir together again, and refrigerate overnight. Serve in a stemless wine glass and garnish with cinnamon stick. Enjoy!

Forget Screwdrivers! Try a Harvey Wallbanger

Give this retro cocktail a try

Vodka and orange juice get kicked up a notch with herbal notes from Galliano in this cocktail.

How to make a Harvey Wallbanger cocktail

When you think vodka and orange juice you typically think Screwdriver, right? Well if you grew up in the 70’s, you might remember this citrusy cocktail. The Harvey Wallbanger was born in the era that brought us cocktails like the mudslide and Long Island Iced Tea. The hodgepodge type of cocktails that were given silly names.

This 3 ingredient cocktail has a murky origin. Folks believe it was created by bartender Duke Antone, the creator of the Rusty Nail and White Russian, back in the 50’s. You can read more about the Harvey Wallbanger’s strange history from Robert Simonson’s Searching for Harvey Wallbanger.

National Harvey Wallbanger day falls on November 8th, which is funny because we’re going to need a few this election day.

This is how you make a Harvey Wallbanger!
