Drink of the Week: Tequila Blackberry Lemonade

Drink of the Week: Tequila Blackberry Lemonade

Let’s salute our fallen heroes with this Drink of the Week!

Let’s take a minute to salute those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for us and our country this Memorial Day Weekend. This weekend will be filled with family vacations, beach trips, and backyard cookouts with the neighbors.

We kept those good old fashioned American cookouts in mind for this Drink of the Week. This Tequila Blackberry Lemonade is a perfect addition to any summer cookout. You can make them ahead of time and serve them from a pitcher. You can even give this drink more of an American Summertime feel by serving them in Mason Jars. This drink is incredibly refreshing, and we even kicked in this easy homemade lemonade recipe, from Happy Hooligans, if you don’t want to use the store bought kind.

Here’s to a safe and happy Memorial Day Weekend for all, and a big Thank You to all those who have gone before us. Cheers, to you!

Carolina Peach Tea

Drink Of The Week: Carolina Peach Tea

We are dressing up a Southern Staple for this Drink of the Week

Summer is almost upon us – YAASS – and down South that means Peach Tea everywhere! Peach tea is as Summer Time as Apple Pie at 4th of July. So for this Drink of the Week: Carolina Peach Tea, we combined freshly made Peach Tea with Vodka and Lemonade for a new Summer treat.

If you want to skip some corners and buy premade Peach Tea, you can. It won’t be exactly the same as our drink of the week recipe, and might be even sweeter, which could mess with the drink’s overall palate. Also, cheap vodka will not pair very well with this tea. That means, whatever you do, stay away from Aristocrat! It overpowers the peach tea, and – in my humble opinion- tastes plain awful.

For the Carolina Peach Tea, we used Gordon’s vodka. It’s easy on the wallet, but it has a little lemon flavor to it which is nice for this cocktail. Just saying plain vodka works great, but if you find yourself inclined to use peach or lemon flavored vodka for added flavor, it’s a good choice.

Carolina Peach Tea

Yields: 1 Serving
Ingredients You’ll Need:

  • 2½ Ounces Vodka
  • 3 Ounces Peach Ice Tea
  • 3 Ounces Lemonade
  • Lemon Wheel for Garnish
  • Peach Slices for Garnish
Glassware and Items You’ll Need:

  • Highball Glass
  • Cocktail Shaker

Peach Ice Tea

Yields: 1 1/2 cups
Ingredients You’ll Need:

  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1 Cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2-3 Fresh Sliced Peaches
  • 3 Black Tea Bags
  • 6 Cups Hot Water
Items You’ll Need:

  • Medium Saucepan
  • Strainer
  • Container

Preparation

Peach Ice Tea: In a medium saucepan, crush together sugar and peach slices with a wooden spoon, in water over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally, and boil until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat, and let stand 30 minutes. Pour liquid through a strainer into an airtight container. Cover and chill for at least a 1/2 hour. *Rinse the peaches and freeze them for a cool summer treat or add them to finished cocktail.

Carolina Peach Tea: Fill highball glass halfway with ice, set aside. Add vodka, peach tea, and ice into a shaker, and shake for a few seconds. Strain into glass, and top with lemonade. Stir together with long spoon, and garnish with peach slices, lemon wheel, or both! Enjoy!
